About Robert Deitch
Robert Deitch is a veteran Music Row staff writer, 2026 Kerrville New Folk Finalist, and Southwest Regional Folk Alliance (SWRFA) Main Stage Showcase Artist. Over the course of his career, he has written more than 300 songs, with more than 30 recorded by other artists.
His third and most recent album, Legacy, has received rave reviews from critics in the U.S. and the U.K. His music has been described as “songs for people who have been there and seen some things,” while critics have drawn comparisons to Chris Stapleton, Guy Clark, Bruce Springsteen, and Jason Isbell.
Deitch’s voice is blue-collar smooth with a little grit—like fine bourbon with a hint of gravel dust. His songs are rooted in vivid storytelling, hard-earned perspective, and the lives of ordinary people navigating love, loss, regret, resilience, and redemption.

Robert grew up in a “Three Church Two Tavern Town” in southeastern Iowa. Today, he performs throughout the country while remaining rooted in the Midwest and in the Nashville songwriting tradition that helped shape his career.
